Description:

Four copper circles, one meter in diameter, as a quadriga of seasonal happiness, reminiscent of mythological earth disks, have gone through the entire cycle of nature in meadows and fields for 12 months, corresponding to the four seasonal quarters. Almost burnt up in the heat of summer, corroded by the patter of rain, clearly dented by wind and weather, magically encrusted with crystalline snow flurries, hurled into the ground like shields by the storm, all of them smilingly illuminated by the sun, moon and stars. As lovingly "exposed" to the forces of nature, Pierick's seasonal disks had time each season to capture the earth's wealth in the act of the encounter of time, space and matter on each individual copper plate as a multifaceted spectrum and to reflect it to us as an archaic treasure.

Sabine Pierick's "Seasonal Happiness" presents itself as a multi-layered, process-oriented art project that transcends the traditional boundaries between artistic intention, natural processes and temporal dimension. The work, which manifests itself as part of a larger series of four copper discs, each embodying a season, reveals a conceptual depth that goes beyond purely visual aesthetics.
