Die Installation „ELEMENTARY: 666 – 108/17 – CO2Z“ von Sabine Pierick geht die globale Klimakrise aus einer industriellen, aber zugleich elementaren Perspektive an. Pierick verwendet Kupfer, Kohle und Wasser – Materialien, die sowohl symbolisch als auch konkret mit dem Diskurs um den Klimawandel verbunden sind.
Ihre Arbeit ist eine Verschmelzung von Kunst und Wissenschaft, wobei Kupfer sowohl die Formbarkeit menschlichen Handelns als auch die Verantwortung der Nationen zur Erreichung von Klimazielen verkörpert. Die spiralförmige Struktur von CO2Z, gefertigt aus einem 15 Meter langen Kupferrohr, ist eine scharfe Kritik an der Untätigkeit der globalen Gemeinschaft.
The installation symbolises the fragile balance betweeen the earth`s resources and the human race`s relentless consumption. Pierick`s use of the chemical periodic rtable highlights the elemental forces at play, while her stark message about greenwashing warns of the dangers of superficial climate solutions.
…. Heat accelerates the ice`s disappearance, underscoring how human actions directly affect environmental degradiation. The sculpture`s unyielding paralysis, despite appearing mobile, is poignant reminder of our collective inertia in adressing climate change.
