BIO
The works of Sabine Pierick as an informal form of expression of contemporary art, thinking differently about the meaning of material and playing with the feelings of the viewer.
Unique, individual works are created from serial work processes and structures. Sabine Pierick makes use of the slight changes that occur when original inaccuracies are further reinforced. These forms create a sculptural design and ultimately a large, organic composition. The result is a game with the material, its repetition and the resulting effect. The individual elements made of coal, copper and petroleum appear identical individually and appear rigid as a material, but gain an impressive lightness and liveliness through the modular design, the openwork structures and the incident light.
The play with variations and modifications expands the works into the space and beyond its characteristic material boundaries.
The works play with the viewer's expectations of a painted picture. When looking closely at the works, the inconsistent casting of light and shadow is irritating. The light seems to come from several directions. In addition, the intensity and color of the works change depending on which point in the room you look at them from.
When you move, subtle changes occur, giving the works a very special liveliness.
